One Housing win ‘Brand of the Year’ at this year’s DIVA Awards

03 May 2022

The awards celebrate LGBTQI+ women and non-binary people and their allies across business, the media, politics and more.

We’re proud to announce that One Housing has been named ‘Brand of the Year’ at this year’s DIVA Awards in recognition of its work towards celebrating equality and diversity in its communities and workplace, and for its support of pioneering schemes like Tonic@bankhouse. Organisations shortlisted for the award include ASOS, BT, Costa Coffee, and HSBC.

One Housing has made progress in its journey towards being a more inclusive organisation for LGBTQI+ staff and customers since the launch, two years ago, of its LGBTQI staff network which has been playing a key role in informing its decisions and making LGBQI experiences more visible across the organisation.

We’ve also been focusing on the needs of LGBTQI+ people reaching a period of their lives when they need additional care and support. Last year, we worked alongside Tonic Housing and the GLA to provide homes for this group of people at our assisted living scheme in Lambeth, Bankhouse. The new partnership led to be opening of Tonic@Bankhouse, the first LGBT+ affirming retirement community in the UK, in the Summer.

The ‘Brand of the Year’ award recognises this vital work and how far we have come as an organisation. However, this is just the next step in creating an organisation that strives to place equality, diversity and inclusion issues at the core of what it does; and an employer that fosters a supportive environment where staff can bring their authentic selves to work.

Richard Hill, Chief Executive Officer, One Housing, said:

“We’re overjoyed to have won this award which demonstrates our commitment towards diversity and inclusion.

“As an employer, care provider and social landlord, we are very much aware of the work that needs to be done to ensure that all our LGBTQI customers and colleagues feel as safe and included in their communities as everyone else.”
