It's time to reconnect!

18 Jun 2021

As the pandemic continues to delay the opening of colleges and learning centres across the country, residents at one of our Camden based supported living schemes have been able to reconnect and continue their learning, all thanks to a generous donation of IT equipment from the Good Things Foundation.

As part of their role, our dedicated key workers help the residents to use digital devices and key-work sessions to identify courses and subject material that will help them with their personal development. Once a course has been chosen, our staff support residents in setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Bound) goals and review progress with an approach that is tailored to them.

Marianne Bigg, Team Manager said: “The tablets have made a massive difference in helping our residents to maintain consistency, they can now access the learning materials whenever they need to, especially as the colleges have remained closed. It has really helped with key skills like literacy, numeracy and knowledge of money management”.

The scheme provides support to 5 adults with learning disabilities. Our team of care staff work together with the residents to provide a range of activities tailored to helping develop their life skills.

The Good Things Foundation is a social change charity that supports socially excluded people to improve their lives through digital.
