In the past several years the sector has had to adapt rapidly to our external environment and changing government policy.
Since 2010, we’ve been operating with almost a complete withdrawal of government grant. Despite these changes, we’ve been able to fund our development programme by investing profits made from our market sales to subsidise building more affordable homes.
While many in the sector are calling for a return of government grant, we’re forging ahead as a result of the success of our two-for-one housing model and our entrepreneurial approach.
We’ve been able to weather the storm so far, but it is important that while it’s conducive to work with government to build more homes and support ambitions of our residents who strive to own their own home, we also need to feedback to government when we feel that housing policy will hinder rather than help solve the housing crisis.
We manage approximately 16,000 homes in London and the South East and work closely with national, regional and local government to improve services for our residents and ensure we can continue to build more homes.
