    Our diversity commitments

    As well as our One for All group and our commitment to the principles of Leadership 2025, One Housing also participates in and promotes a number of other initiatives to ensure that our diverse workforce feel welcome, valued and able to be their best at work including:

    Women in Social Housing (WISH)

    WISH is a professional and friendly Network giving members the opportunity to network in relaxed, safe environments whilst enjoying inspirational guest speakers and making a wide spectrum of contacts. One Housing has an active and popular WISH network.

    The major objectives of the WISH Vision are:

    • Encouraging more young women to choose careers in the affordable housing and construction sectors when they leave school, college or further education.
    • Addressing career progression for women already in these sectors, building confidence, encouraging success and challenging stereotypes and barriers. 
    • Motivating women to stay in the sector by offering guidance through our mentoring programme and peer to peer support at our networking events
    • Being thought-leaders in the sector, highlighting the issues of diversity, gender inequality and what the sector can do better to retain women and address the gender pay gap.

    Housing Diversity Network

    Housing Diversity Network is a social enterprise that aims to inspire and empower people, promoting equality, diversity and opportunity for all. They work collaboratively to support organisations to improve how they address inequality, get the most from their staff and meet the needs of the communities they work with.

    In March 2019 we were nominated for seven awards across five categories at the 24Housing diversity in housing awards.

    Diversity interest groups

    We encourage and support our employees to create and grow interest groups to connect with their peers and discuss topics of mutual interest and to develop greater understanding. This forms part of our One for All action plan and is an area where we continue to develop and gain momentum. Our existing interest groups include:

    One Loco 

    The One Loco initiative is an exciting campaign which is aimed at encouraging us to have an open conversation about mental health at One Housing.

    It includes team talks, events, public interviews and training for employees and managers to feel more comfortable discussing their mental health at work. 

    One Pride

    This is our LGBTQI+ network which one of our passionate colleagues is currently developing with the aim of creating a platform for awareness, conversation and inclusivity and continuing to improve how inclusive a place One Housing is to work.
