We’re so proud of our customer Jack who featured on BBC TV’s The One Show. Jack plays electric guitar in rock ‘n’ roll band, the Autistix, whose members are from all different levels of the autistic spectrum.

Jack’s personality shines through in footage of the band performing at the legendary The Cavern Club in Liverpool as he jumps off amplifiers while on stage and truly embraces his Rockstar persona. He explains “Each of us members including myself have autism and different kinds of conditions, showing how disabilities don’t stop you from doing what you want to do.”

Presenter, Alex Jones, interviews Jack after the group’s live performance at The One Show and asks about his experience of performing with music icon, Sir Tom Jones. Jack explains “He’s been around since The Beatles and The Stones and it kind of gave us that energy to get the feeling of playing to a big audience… God bless him!”

Another band member adds “But Jack had to give him confidence. He said ‘Tom you need to believe in yourself!’”

A charismatic Jack responds “I wasn’t trying to ruin the style, I was just trying to give him some support!”

Jack is a customer of our new Learning Disability service which provides support to five men in West Hampstead. Make sure you check out his appearance on The One Show episode, currently available on BBC iPlayer.
