One Housing bolsters affordable housing portfolio with 159 sustainable apartments

One Housing, a London-based housing association, has partnered with Mount Anvil to deliver 159 new homes at award winning sustainable development Royal Eden Docks in East London. The apartments bolster One Housing’s focus on its core London housing portfolio, with the homes being made available to local families in housing need and working Londoners looking for the first step into home ownership.

The high-quality apartments not only meet but surpass several environmental and carbon-reducing goals set for new developments. The building as a whole is estimated to be saving over 430 tonnes of carbon each year and each apartment is estimated to emit 54% less carbon than an equivalent home built to the minimum national standards. The first phase of Royal Eden Docks, Royal Docks West, secured a Planet Mark sustainability certification, endorsing Mount Anvil’s overarching approach to creating a carbon-reducing community.

Mike Johnson, Group Director of Development at One Housing, comments:

“With the ongoing shortage of good quality affordable homes, we are pleased to have purchased phase two at Royal Eden Docks. Not only is it in an outstanding London location, but it also has brilliant environmental credentials, exemplary design quality and an array of amenities thanks to being a tenure blind community. This type of property shouldn’t be out of reach to those on small budgets and working together with Mount Anvil, we’re able to provide much needed high-quality housing and amenities.”

Killian Hurley, Chief Executive at Mount Anvil, adds:

“We’re delighted to be working in partnership again with One Housing. Together we’ll deliver 159 new affordable homes as part of our Royal Eden Docks community that will be a very high quality, sustainable and energy-efficient.”

Mount Anvil’s Royal Eden Docks is set in the heart of London’s only enterprise zone, which is fast becoming a new hub for business and culture – with even the Mayor soon to be relocating to the area. The development is designed around health and wellbeing, with landscaped space at its core, once complete, comprising a total of 854 new homes ranging from studios to three-bed apartments, 17 amenities including a rooftop running track and residents’ gym, all set within 5,000sq m of landscaped gardens.
