Our care and support team at Arlington was 'highly commended' in the Support and Care Team of the Year award at this year’s Housing Heroes, run by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing. The award celebrates teams that excel at ‘helping people who need care and support to be able to lead independent lives’.

Arlington is the largest mixed-use hostel in the UK and supports residents who have varying needs due to their history of being homeless or sleeping rough, which include mental health support needs, substance dependency, and physical health needs.

Our care and support team offers residents bespoke support which enables them to build confidence, resilience and access training and employment opportunities. They have been working incredibly hard to help people to move on to secure homes and more stable futures. Over the last twelve months alone, they have supported 18 customers into independent living.

Martin D’Mello, our Group Director of Health, Care and Support said: “We are delighted to have been highly commended for the service that we provide at Arlington homeless hostel. We work with many public services in Camden, as well as social enterprises and commercial businesses, to create the best environment and the care and support offer to ensure that our residents receive the right support. We were chosen last year to pilot Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) by Camden Council’s commissioning team. The PIE approach ensures that staff are appropriately trained and supported and encourages staff to continually look for ways to improve the service. The pilot has been so successful that the commissioning team has asked us to help facilitate the roll-out of PIE workshops to other Camden Hostels.”
