The Club aims to improve the quality of life for our older residents, provide opportunities to help reduce their sense of loneliness and avoid social disengagement.

Janet Winslet has been a resident for 28 years and is an active member of the Diamond club, she has been on several outings and in particular loves attending the club’s annual Christmas dinner. When asked how the project has helped her, Janet had this to say:

"The Diamond Club has helped me get out more; I struggled with going out as I don’t have a car and suffer from arthritis which affects my mobility. The Diamond Club has helped me get out and about; I’ve also made good friends through One Housing and the club."

As well as organising social trips (the annual Christmas dinner and summer coach trip) and activities for the members, the Diamond Club also focus on promoting residents confidence and independence through:

    • accessing local services, including social services and health services
    • enhancing health and wellbeing to enable customers to lead a full and active life
    • giving practical help to enable residents to remain in their homes for as long as it’s safe for them to do so, and much more.
