For you

    Substance misuse
We have extensive experience of supporting customers with substance misuse problems. We provide specialist drug and alcohol services to customers, both in floating support and accommodation-based settings.

Our specialist substance misuse services include:

    • Enfield Mainstream and Substance Misuse - a specialist floating support service for customers with drug and alcohol problems.
    • Burghley Road - a 24 unit cross-borough service for men and women with entrenched alcohol dependency, many of whom have chronic health and social care needs. Customers can drink alcohol in a controlled environment designed to minimise harm. Staff work proactively to move customers towards an alcohol-free lifestyle.
    • Arlington – a large homelessness service which includes a specialist substance misuse unit staffed by four DANOS qualified specialist drug and alcohol workers.

Our approach to working with substance misuse is based on:

    • a thorough assessment of the customer’s relationship with drugs or alcohol
    • helping customers to better understand this relationship
    • developing awareness of patterns and triggers
    • developing risk management strategies
    • promoting harm minimisation techniques
    • supporting customers to have stable accommodation
    • developing individual reduction strategies
    • engaging customers in meaningful activity at a level that works for them
    • developing life skills and work-based skills.

We provide support across the whole spectrum, from having abstinence as a goal through to harm minimisation techniques for customers who want to continue to use, now or for the foreseeable future. Our specialist staff provide one-to-one support to customers who need additional support and lead our programme of activities and group work.
