The initiative has helped us to better understand our residents' needs and what's important to them. Using this knowledge, we have been able to support and empower them to stay healthy and active later on in life.
Lots of the residents we spoke to told us they would welcome the opportunity to meet their neighbours and get to know them. To facilitate this we hold regular social events and trips, here's what our members had to say:
Eighty year old Pam Cole, who has lived in the Island region for 30 years said:
"A lot of residents on the Island don't get out. This programme has helped us to unite as a community, seek information regarding opportunities, benefits and ask questions whilst getting to know other residents at the same time."
The project has had a real positive effect and residents are looking forward to more activities. "It's projects like this that demonstrate One Housing care about older people, we think it's a good thing to have in our community and would like to see more events from Active at 70," said Sammy and Francis who have been residents in the Island Region for 37 years.
